Elephants of Tsavo

tsavo_elephants

This film documents the devastating effects of the widespread elephant poaching which occurred in Kenya throughout the 1980s, and shows how the Kenya Wildlife Service and an international ivory trade ban almost completely halted the slaughter in 1989. This cessation of poaching allowed wildlife-based photographic tourism to increase again, bringing more revenue and security to more people in Kenya than the ivory trade had ever done (or ever could.)
